PRESS RELEASE - DAR INVITES ZANDRA RHODES TO PAKISTAN (14/9/2006)
Having traveled to Pakistan extensively over the last 20 years I have been most impressed with the quality of Pakistani fabrics as well as embroidery and textile craftsmanship. I believe that the world has been denied access to the undiscovered world of Pakistani textile treasure.

I have communicated this to Zandra Rhodes, a British fashion designer icon, who is also the queen of colour, textile and versatility. I have invited her to come to Pakistan and unveil this hidden beauty to the world by organising a series of fashion shows presenting her unique and stunning collection using Pakistani fabrics. I have been privileged to have worked with Zandra on many occasions and I can guarantee the most spectacular shows. To my delight she agreed saying she always wanted to visit Pakistan.

Her Excellency Maleeha Lodhi, the High Commissioner for Pakistan in London, has made all the necessary arrangements at the government level. Her Excellency is not just the most dynamic and capable High Commissioner but also the best cultural ambassador for Pakistan. We are very fortunate to have such an amazing lady representing Pakistan in the UK. She has now confirmed that the government of Pakistan is delighted to invite Zandra Rhodes for a visit to Pakistan so that she can get a taste of versatility and diversity of Pakistani cultural folklore.
