PRESS RELEASE - AN ICON OF BRITISH FASHION COMES TO PAKISTAN
Zandra Rhodes put London at the forefront of the international fashion scene in the 1970s. Her designs are clear, creative statements, dramatic but graceful, bold but feminine. Zandra's inspiration has always been from organic material and nature. Pakistan has a tremendous wealth of cotton, silk and handloom fabrics as well as garments embellished with trimmings, semi precious stones, sequins, tussles, tassels, beads and embroidery

In view of Zandra's interest in handcrafted embellished garments, Dr. Maleeha Lodhi, High Commissioner for Pakistan in the United Kingdom, invited her to visit Pakistan to see for herself the quality of Pakistan's fabrics and craftsmanship in accessories. Zandra accepted the invitation and plans to visit Pakistan in January 2007 with her assistant and photographer. Dar, an international celebrity hair designer, who visits Pakistan often, is instrumental in Zandra's decision to source jewelry, fabrics and embellishments from Pakistan for her next show.

Zandra sees her visit to Pakistan as a personal effort to bring nations and communities together which will help better understand Pakistani culture and society. Zandra designed for the late Princess of Wales, Diana, and continues to design for the royal and famous around the world. She has a loyal cult following in the U.S. Over the years, she has had many academic and professional honours bestowed upon her and received a CBE from the Queen in 1997. Dr. Maleeha Lodhi, High Commissioner for Pakistan in the United Kingdom
